As it is known, in order for a foreigner to apply for a residence permit in Turkey, he must first enter Turkey through any border gate, either by obtaining a visa or within the scope of visa exemption.
In this context, if the foreigner is planning to stay in Turkey for a longer period than specified in the visa or visa exemption, he/she must apply for a residence permit.
Residence permits recently issued by the Turkish Ministry of Interior, Directorate of Migration Management are as follows;
a. Family Residence Permit b. Student Residence Permit
c. Short Term Residence Permit d. Long Term Residence Permit
As it is known, most of the foreigners stay here within the scope of short-term residence permit. Residence permit applications are made for different reasons such as tourism purposes, acquiring real estate, establishing a business, conducting scientific research or participating in vocational training programs.
Residence permit must be applied with the following documents;
Application form for the residence permit to be applied,
Passport or passport substitute document presented upon entry to Turkey,

“Declaration of financial adequacy, criminal record, etc.” Other documents deemed necessary by immigration authorities, such as
Recently, an announcement has been made by the Immigration Administration, as of 15.02.2022, that foreigners who want to obtain a residence permit using a lease contract must have the lease contract notarized by the property owner/lessee. In the past, the presence of the foreign applicant in the presence of a notary was sufficient for the lease agreement to be suitable for residence.
For foreigners who own real estate, the title deed will be sufficient as long as their own residence address is also available.
Foreigners staying at the residence address of a third person have to submit a Landlord Undertaking issued in the presence of a notary public.
Finally, we recommend not leaving the country or traveling abroad without obtaining the requested residence permit. However, we can state that foreigners can obtain a travel permit from the Immigration Administration in case of emergency. In this case, the foreigner is required to give a "Power of Attorney" to an official lawyer registered with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations and to follow up the process of obtaining a residence card on his behalf. It is not possible for a person who is not registered with the Union of Bar Associations to take a power of attorney and follow these transactions.
